Gameplay Questions

Q: How do I cast special spells?

A: Tap the spell icons at the bottom of the screen. Each spell consumes mana, so make sure you have enough mana before casting. Your mana regenerates automatically over time.

Q: What is Overdrive?

A: Overdrive activates when you cast a spell while your mana is above 80%. This provides bonus damage to your spell! Try to time your spell casts when your mana bar is nearly full for maximum impact.

Q: How do I unlock new wand tiers?

A: Wand tiers unlock automatically as you reach higher levels (every 15 levels beyond tier 4). You can also collect wand upgrade power-ups during gameplay. Maximum wand tier is 10.

Q: What happens when I reach the maximum wand tier?

A: When you’re at the level-based tier cap, wand upgrade power-ups give you Overcharge stacks instead. These stacks enhance your next special spell with bonus damage, size, and pierce effects!

Q: How do I upgrade my spells?

A: Collect spell power-up drops from enemies and destructible objects. Each power-up upgrades one random spell by one level (max level 4).

Q: Why can’t I cast spells?

A: Check your mana bar at the top of the screen. If it’s empty or too low, you don’t have enough mana to cast. Wait for your mana to regenerate, or collect mana power-ups to restore it instantly.

Q: What is Arcane Mastery?

A: Arcane Mastery is a combo buff that activates when you chain kills quickly. It reduces spell costs by 50%! Kill enemies rapidly to trigger and maintain this powerful buff.

Progress & Saves

Q: How is my progress saved?

A: All your progress is automatically saved locally on your device. This includes your high score, currency, unlocked items, wand/armor tiers, spell levels, and daily streak.

Q: Can I transfer my progress to a new device?

A: Currently, save data is stored locally and cannot be transferred between devices. However, Game Center achievements and leaderboard scores are synced across devices signed into the same Game Center account.

Q: I lost my progress! Can I get it back?

A: Save data is stored locally. If you deleted the app or reset your device, the save data is permanently lost. We recommend backing up your device regularly through iCloud to prevent data loss.

Q: How does the daily streak work?

A: Your daily streak increases by 1 each day you play. If you miss a day, your streak resets to 0. The streak counter appears on the main menu, and maintaining long streaks contributes to achievements.

Game Center

Q: How do I enable Game Center?

A: Game Center should enable automatically when you launch the game if you’re signed into Game Center on your device. Check Settings → Game Center on your iOS device to verify you’re signed in.

Q: Why aren’t my scores appearing on leaderboards?

A: Make sure you’re signed into Game Center and have an active internet connection. Scores are submitted automatically after each game. If scores still don’t appear, try signing out and back into Game Center in Settings.

Q: Can I disable Game Center?

A: Yes! Go to Settings → Game Center on your iOS device and sign out. This won’t affect core gameplay, but leaderboards and achievements won’t sync.

Q: Where can I see my achievements?

A: Achievements unlock automatically as you play. View them in the Game Center app or on the main menu screen where recent achievements are displayed. Some achievements are hidden until unlocked!

Technical Issues

Q: The game is lagging or running slowly

A: Try these solutions:

  • Close other apps running in the background
  • Restart your device
  • Make sure you’re running the latest version of iOS
  • Free up storage space on your device

Q: The game crashes when I open it

A: Try these steps:

  1. Force quit the app and relaunch it
  2. Restart your device
  3. Delete and reinstall the app (warning: this will delete your local save data)
  4. Update to the latest version of the app from the App Store

Q: I’m not hearing any sound or music

A: Check these settings:

  • Make sure your device isn’t in silent mode
  • Check the volume slider on your device
  • Open the pause menu in-game (gear icon) and verify music and sound effects aren’t muted
  • Check Settings → Sounds & Haptics on your device

Q: Haptic feedback isn’t working

A: Verify that:

  • Your device supports haptic feedback (iPhone 7 and later)
  • Haptic feedback is enabled in iOS Settings → Sounds & Haptics
  • Haptic feedback is enabled in the game’s pause menu

Purchases & App Store

Q: Is Spell Surge free to play?

A: Yes! Spell Surge is completely free with no in-app purchases or advertisements.

Q: Will there be in-app purchases in the future?

A: There are currently no plans to add in-app purchases. The game is and will remain completely free.

Q: What iOS version do I need?

A: Spell Surge requires iOS 15.0 or later.

Q: Is Spell Surge available on Android?

A: Currently, Spell Surge is only available on iOS. There are no immediate plans for an Android version.

Privacy & Data

Q: What data does Spell Surge collect?

A: Spell Surge stores gameplay data locally on your device only. We do not collect, access, or transmit any personal information. Game Center may collect data according to Apple’s privacy policy. See our full Privacy Policy for details.

Q: How do I delete my data?

A: Simply uninstall the app to permanently delete all local save data. Game Center data (leaderboards/achievements) is managed through your Apple ID and Game Center settings.
